Instrumentation: violin and piano
The basis of this suite is a series of dances in my opera ”The Two Fiddlers”, performed by children. They are played on the fiddle, Orkney-Scottish style, by Storm Kolson, first at the Trolls’ dance, and later at an island get-together, to break a spell cast on the Orkeny islanders by the Trolls.
The original orchestration is for school orchestra. In addition to this version for violin and piano, I have arranged the dances for small instrumental ensemble.
